Bring it on 2014!

New year, new resolutions right?  Lose weight.  Quit drinking soda.  Workout more.    To some, this may sound like reasonable tasks to accomplish, but to me, that all sounds like a lot of pressure to apply to myself on a daily basis.  I get that they are things I need to work on, but in my head, when I hear lose weight, I become increasingly anxious just trying to pick a meal.  This hasn't worked for me.  My anxiety will always win.  So this year I wanted to try something different.

My friend Cassie, the ever wise well read woman that she is, brought to my attention a website that doesn't focus on resolutions, but focuses on choosing one word to apply to your everyday life.  This word should be a challenge for you, but not necessarily a measurable goal that one might typically set for oneself.  I like this idea.  It feels like something I can do without it becoming an ever consuming task in my day that will eventually overwhelm me and typically cause me to fail.  As you can imagine this hasn't been a productive path that I've followed!

So, here goes.  My word is inspired by an article that I read that on Facebook called 20 things to Let Go of before 2014.  This article hit home on so many points that, again, with Cassie's help, it made sense to have my "word" be Let Go.  I will focus on Letting Go each day!  I worry more than my fair share about things I cannot control.  I cause myself pointless anxiety every single day, so that is why I think Let Go is something I can indeed accomplish each day.

I'd like to share how I am Letting Go, and how it's helping me to grow as an individual and hopefully allow me to obtain goals that I was too fearful or too busy over thinking to have previously accomplished.

Off to see if I can stay up to watch this new year roll in!

Happy New Year!
